washington-capitals 1. Washington Capitals (LW-2)

Washington has clinched the Presidents’ Trophy for a second consecutive season but they will again be judged by how they do in the playoffs.

chicago.blackhawks1 2. Chicago Blackhawks (LW-1)

They somehow blew a 3-0 lead to the Colorado Avalanche earlier in the week but they still have the top seed in the West locked up.

pittsburgh-penguins 3. Pittsburgh Penguins (LW-4)

Pittsburgh’s repeat chances took a massive blow as Kris Letang will be out four to six months with a herniated disk in his neck. Despite that, they clinched home ice for the first round of the playoffs against the Blue Jackets.

anaheim-ducks 4. Anaheim Ducks (LW-8)

The Ducks are leading the Pacific Division as they continue their late surge to try and get home ice for a couple rounds of the playoffs.

montreal_canadiens1 5. Montreal Canadiens (LW-5) 

Montreal clinched the Atlantic Division earlier in the week and with that, a rematch against the New York Rangers in the playoffs. This time, they’ll have Carey Price.

Columbus Blue Jackets 2016 Fantasy Hockey Preview 6. Columbus Blue Jackets (LW-3) 

Columbus is reeling lately as they’ve lost five in a row and top rookie defenseman Zach Werenski is banged up. If he’s not healthy by the playoffs, it could get ugly against the Penguins.

Edmonton Oilers 2016 Fantasy Hockey Preview 7. Edmonton Oilers (LW-7)

Connor McDavid is the Hart Trophy favorite and will win the Art Ross as he continues his amazing stretch of play. They’ll be a tough out in the playoffs with the way he has the team going.

minnesota-wild 8. Minnesota Wild (LW-9)

Minnesota will have home ice in their first round series but will it be against Nashville or St. Louis?

New_York_Rangers 9. New York Rangers (LW-6)

New York did what was right and “tanked” for the first wild card to avoid the Metropolitan bracket for the playoffs. Montreal awaits them next week.

10. San Jose Sharks (LW-11)

The Sharks are in a battle for seeding in the Pacific Division as there’s still much to be decided as to who they’ll play in the playoffs.

 Calgary Flames 2016 Team Preview 11. Calgary Flames (LW-7)

Calgary clinched a playoff spot for the second time in three years and they seem to desperately want to avoid the Blackhawks in the first round. A rematch with the Anaheim Ducks is certainly possible if both teams stay where they’re at.


12. St. Louis Blues (LW-14)

St. Louis is continuing to play well as they crushed the Panthers on Thursday night and close the season against the Avalanche and the Hurricanes.

Boston Bruins 2016 Fantasy Hockey Preview 13. Boston Bruins (LW-16)

Despite their shootout loss to the Senators, they can still finish third in the Atlantic if they win their final game of the season. This is the dark horse team in the East.

nashville-Predators1 14.  Nashville Predators (LW-15)

Nashville is staying right with the Blues but they’re going to need some help if they want to leap frog them before the season is over.

ottawa-senators 15. Ottawa Senators  (LW-12)

Ottawa clinched a playoff berth for the second time in three years but they’ve hit a slide as they’ve been without Erik Karlsson for the past few games. They got a huge win without him against the Bruins but they’ll need to continue to win if they want to avoid the Capitals in the first round.

16. Toronto Maple Leafs (LW-13)

Toronto is likely to make the playoffs despite their recent slide as they need just one more win to get in. Tampa lurks just behind them though if they falter during these final couple games.

Tampa-Bay-Lightning 17. Tampa Bay Lightning (LW- 17)

Tampa is hanging in there as well as they beat the Maple Leafs and are also three points behind the Leafs. Can they sneak into the playoffs this weekend?

NewYorkIslandersOld 18. New York Islanders (LW-19)

The Islanders keep fighting and kept their slim playoff hopes alive as they blanked Carolina 3-0. They’re three points behind Toronto.

Carolina Hurricanes 2016 Fantasy Hockey Preview 19. Carolina Hurricanes (LW-18)

It was a good run but Carolina was also eliminated from playoff contentin this past week. Ron Francis will still definitely have this team in the playoffs in the next couple of years.

philadelphia_flyers 20. Philadelphia Flyers (LW-20)

The Flyers were officialy eliminated from postseason contention on Sunday and that marks the third time in five years that they’ve missed the playoffs.

winnipeg-jets 21. Winnipeg Jets  (LW-21)

It’s too little too late for the Jets but they’ll be a playoff team next year with a number one goaltender.

losangeles-kings 22.  Los Angeles Kings (LW-22)

LA will have to make some major decisions this offseason and it might start at the top with Darryl Sutter.

 Florida Panthers 2016 Fantasy Hockey Preview 23. Florida Panthers  (LW-23)

It’s hard to believe that the Panthers were in the playoffs a year ago and how far they’ve fallen.

Buffalo Sabres 2016 Fantasy Hockey Preview 24. Buffalo Sabres (LW-24)

Sam Reinhart was benched for arriving late to a team stretch last week and the season can’t end soon enough. Also, prayers to Kyle Okposo as he’s in the hospital.

vancouver-canucks 25. Vancouver Canucks (LW-25)

Is Willie Desjardins safe until next season? Vancouver needs to make some major moves if they want to make the playoffs next seaso.

detroit-redwings1 26.  Detroit Red Wings (LW-26)

The final game at The Joe is this Sunday and it’ll sure be an emotional day.

new-jersey-devils 27. New Jersey Devils (LW-27)

They’ve lost 19 out of their 22 games and Cory Schneider gave up seven goals to the Penguins on Thursday night. It’ll be a long offseason for New Jersey.

Dallas Stars 2016 Fantasy Hockey Preview 28. Dallas Stars (LW-28)

Jamie Benn has been sensational again this season but a very unexpected season for the Stars ends this weekend. Is Lindy Ruff safe?

Arizona-Coyotes 29. Arizona Coyotes (LW-29)

Arizona has a lot of promising young talent heading into next season despite finishing at the bottom of the standings.

colorado-avalanche 30. Colorado Avalanche (LW-30)

The unforgettable season finally ends on Sunday.
